ConDor is an annual science fiction/fantasy convention. It's held in San Diego, CA, around the end of February. We have authors, agents, TV shows, costumes, dealers, artists, actors, games, RPGA, dances, concerts, and Harry Potter programming. There's a lot to see and do and only 3 days to do it all.
Did you attend the winster session of ConDor Academy? Would you like more information, give suggestions or wish to teach a class next year? Then join our ConDor Academy Facebook page. Share photos, experiences and ask questions about classes you attended.
The Regents want to make next year's Academy bigger, better and even more fun but we need your input to do it.
We are saddened by the loss of our friend and former ConDor panelist and committee member, Scott Nor-ton, who passed away at the end of 2013. His contributions to fandom are varied, and his friendship touched so many of us
Last Unicorn Author Peter S. Beagle at ConDor
ConDor Conventions is pleased to announce that on Sunday, for the first time in many years, we will be welcoming World Fantasy Life-Time Achievement Award winning writer Peter S. Beagle to ConDor. He will be attending only a single panel "Title: Speculative Fiction for Kids - With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" on which he will be joined by writers Nancy Holder, Greg Eekhout, Jonathan Maberry and Alessa Ellefson.
Victorian/Steampunk Dance on Saturday
We will once again be having a Victorian dance Saturday Night, featuring period dances such as waltzes, reels, quadrilles, and whatever else our Dancemaster Russell Hedges came come up with. There will also be a costume competition at the dance with prizes. Tickets will be available at the door for individuals not attending daytime convention events. (Your $10 membership for Partypocalypse will also work and your Victorian dance membership will count toward a full Partypocalypse membership.)
Dance Dance American Revolution
Friday, March 21, 2014 8:00pm until 11:00pm
Friday night, ConDor will again feature an English Country dance, in the manner of last year's hit "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" ball. English Country dancing consists of line dances, the predecessors of later dances such as contra and square dancing. All dances will be taught and called by an experienced caller, no previous experience is necessary to enjoy yourself.
This year's costuming theme is the American Revolution, though all costumes (or formal wear or even street clothes) are welcome.
As with last year there will be an evening convention membership available for those not attending the main convention. Last year, many members of the San Diego period dancing community joined us (in costume!), greatly enhancing the event.
